My Journey from Farming to Teaching: Pursuing Passion and Transformation

I'm Kwagala Martha, a 21-year-old wife and mother of one. Life took a different turn before I began my journey as a paraeducator. I used to spend my days as a farmer, nurturing the soil and tending to crops. However, my heart always yearned for something more—a path that led me to my dream of becoming a teacher.

A Dream Remembered

As a child, I dreamt of standing in front of a classroom, guiding young minds, and sharing the gift of knowledge. That dream never left me, even as I pursued farming. So, when the opportunity to become a paraeducator arose, I knew it was a chance I couldn't pass up. The love and passion I had for teaching, combined with the belief that teachers never grow old, fueled my decision.

Community Transformation

Now, I have a job I enjoy that sustains my family. I've also gained valuable knowledge and skills in my dream career, and I can only see a future that's getting brighter for me and my community.

I've witnessed how this community para-educator project has transformed our community. Many parents in our area were unable to send their children to school for early years education due to financial constraints. However, through the ECE program, we've been able to provide educational opportunities for these children, giving them a chance at a brighter future.

Learning and Love

Through this program, I've learned valuable lessons about myself and working with children. I've gained the skills needed to handle young minds and develop teaching materials. What I love most about my job is the opportunity for skill development and the cooperation among parents. Timely payments also ensure that I can support my family.

Living the Dream

My journey from farming to teaching has been transformative, and I'm excited to continue making a positive impact, one child at a time.
